Dear mother-to-be and father-to-be,
On behalf of International Peace Maternity &Child Health Hospital (IPH), We would like to invite you to participate in the study named ‘Sino-Canadian Healthy Life Trajectories Initiative (LIFE TREE)’. The project is part of the Healthy Life Trajectories Initiative (HeLTI) with collaboration between China, Canada, India, and South Africa and supported by the World Health Organization (WHO). The study plans to explore a Community-Family-Mother-Child (CFMC) programme from preconception and assess its effectiveness on the promotion of healthy lifestyle in preconception and pregnancy, as well as its effects on childhood growth and development. The study will be conducted in 3 districts of Shanghai, namely Xuhui, Changning and Minhang. Main research sites include IPH, Changning Maternal , Child Care Hospital and shanghai fengxian district central hospital.
Number of participants to be recruited
We aim to recruit 4,000 women including 1600 women in preconception and 2400 in early pregnancy
Either registered Shanghai resident, married to a registered Shanghai Resident, or have lived in Shanghai for at least 5 years
in 3 research districts;
Plan to delivery in one of the three research hospitals
Between the ages of 20 and 42 years;
Planning pregnancy in the next 6 months;
Singleton pregnancy; less than 14 weeks at the time of enrolment.
Special offer for participants
Priority to establish prenatal care account in three research hospitals;
Priority to make appointments for specialist in preconception, prenatal care and child health care clinics;
Free detections and assessments for the child including trace elements, heavy metals and fecal egg, etc.
